Mr. Sherrell has been recognized for dedication, achievements and leadership in Human Resources
A strategic Human Resources Business Partner with a 30+ year track record of creating and aligning HR processes to business strategy in high growth and high profitability organizations, Larry Sherrell began his career at General Motors as a Labor Relations Representative. He subsequently held positions of Sr. Personnel Analyst, Employment Manager, and Labor Relations Manager. Over the years, Larry Sherrell gained valuable expertise at Abbott Laboratories where he was responsible for HR leadership in pharmaceutical sales and marketing and diagnostics operations. He additionally served as an Organizational Development Manager and Human Resources Director at Texas Instruments where he led organizational change initiatives on speed and innovation and created and implemented leadership development and mentoring programs for high potential engineers.
Larry Sherrell further excelled as the U.S. HR Director for Gibson Energy. He played a leadership role in launching an effective talent management and succession planning process, developing the capability of leaders, managers and employees to achieve business objectives and leading the integration of HR processes of a 1,300-employee acquisition with existing U.S. HR processes. As the Vice President, Human Resources for Lexipol, Larry Sherrell played a senior leadership role in creating and leading quarterly Town Hall Meetings for all employees, conducting an annual employee engagement survey that determined the top three areas for improvement and partnering with the CFO to make needed improvements in employee benefits cost effectively.
Larry Sherrell obtained a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering degree from General Motors Institute before graduating with a Master of Business Administration in Organizational Behavior and Industrial Relations from the University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business. He worked with other HR executives in the Southern Methodist University Cox HR Roundtable for about 10 years. Larry Sherrell attributes his success to focusing on what is needed for business success and getting it done creatively, effectively and quickly as possible. Although his career has been filled with many highlights, he is most proud of two achievements. He negotiated the settlement to a dispute between Gibson Energy and the Teamsters Union in 2016 and led a talent acquisition initiative in 2018 that resulted in the hiring of strong senior-level talent, e.g., the Chief Revenue Officer who was promoted to CEO three years later. Looking toward the future, Larry Sherrell intends to build on his achievements as an accomplished HR leader.
Outside of his professional endeavors, he enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, Abby, Theo, Ashley, and Zinnia.
